All Time Favourite Iconic Cars – What’s YOUR Favourite?

This is the question that we asked all our Twitter community friends this week.

We thought that it is only right to finish our 2013 Sunday Night Blog with a blog that celebrates the cultural diversity that cars bring to the party.

Cars – like music – mean different things to everyone. One man’s Ferrari is another man’s Ford (so to speak!) and the suggestions that we got back pretty much demonstrated that very fact.

So, what is an Iconic Car?

According to the Oxford Dictionary, the word Iconic means “a person or thing regarded as a representative symbol or as worthy of veneration”. The word also carries religious connotations that remind are associated with a thing of worship – quote simply, the term will fit any car that is held in high esteem by the proposing party.

In many cases, the term Iconic Car will have a much wider following across the UK and perhaps even the world. It may be because of style, speed, engineering or even an era that it fondly represents.

Motor Mistress says: I love quite a few of these but in particular, I would agree that the Beetle & British Mini are certainly Iconic Retro cars. In addition, I would suggest that the Mk1 Golf Cabriolet, Renault 5 GT Turbo and Fiesta XR2i Mark II have to have a little spot (the latter two for reasons that remind me of my rather mis-spent youth).
